EVIL cameras here to stay: official PDF Print E-mail
Written by charlieG

Like them or loathe them, it seems that M43 or "interchangable lens compacts" are here to stay. In December 2009 they made up over 10% of interchangeable lens camera sales, according to market research conducted by GFK.

With Sony joining the fray as well, surely it can't be long before Canon and Nikon join the EVIL party?

Something for the weekend: Noticings PDF Print E-mail
Written by charlieG

Fancy a game that you need your camera for? Noticings is a photography based game that could get you seeing your home town with new eyes.

"Noticings are interesting things that you stumble across when out and about. Players are awarded points for things like spotting the first thing in a neighbourhood, or noticing something every day for a week."

The game uses Flickr and the geotagging feature of the photo-sharing site to host the images. Each turn is a day long, and at 3pm GMT every day photos from the previous day are imported from Flickr and the scores calculated.

Interested? Click through to find out more about the game and start noticing...

Retro Photography Adverts PDF Print E-mail
Written by charlieG

Gadzooks! I say old beans, are you lot those pictorialists I've read so much about?

No, I haven't lost the plot: I've just been looking at this fantastic collection of retro photography adverts that, amongst other things, finally answer the questions: just what does a pictorialist demand in a vest-pocket camera?

Enjoy, and be thankful you're not stuck in a world where f/4 is a fast lens.
